Seoul: City of Infinite Discoveries and the Heart of Northeast Asia

Despite all the traces of a proud and majestic past, from imposing palaces in the downtown area to centuries-old temples nestled in the mountains, Seoul is a metropolis that is cutting a blazing path to a blindingly bright future. As the capital of Korea for over 600 years, Seoul has a well-established foundation which has been central to shaping Korean culture and character. Treasures from past kingdoms, traditional markets and ornate shrines live in harmony with sleek, towering glass and steel skyscrapers that pierce the sky. These contrasts are framed by towering granite peaks where nature lovers escape from the city without actually leaving it, labyrinths of sleek shopping boulevards dotted with traditional teahouses, floodlit city gates and a neon-lit night life that is always pulsating. Outdoor concerts are a constant feature in Seoul’s many verdant parks and a steady stream of locals and travelers can always be seen admiring the elaborate courtyards and gardens that keep the country’s rich, regal heritage alive. It’s no wonder that Seoul is the premier cultural, business and transportation hub of Northeast Asia.
