Tokyo Daijingu Shrine ～Hatsumode (The first shrine visit of the year)
1st-7th Jan 2018
Hatsumode is a ritual of one’s first visit of the year to a shrine or temple. Visitors show appreciation of the year or pray for safety and peace for the New Year. This traditional event will be held all over Japan, not only in Tokyo, in the beginning of a year. During January 1 to 3, the shrine will serve “Akafuku (a type of Japanese sweet)”, “Taruzake (cask sake)” and “Oshiruko (sweet red-bean soup)” in the shrine precinct.
