Bokutei Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom Festival)

The area along the Sumidagawa River became the best cherry blossom viewing spot in Edo after the eighth shogun, Tokugawa Yoshimune planted trees on the riverbanks.Many viewers have visited the tunnel of cherry blossoms along the one kilometer long between Azuma-bashi and Sakura-bashi bridges since a long time ago. At night, you can enjoy a view of illuminated cherry blossoms against lighting from Tokyo Skytree ®. During the event, the local town council, Geisha teahouses by the Mukojima Bokutei Cooperative, and booths by the products and stores association and tourism will open. Also popular are yakatabune houseboats that offer a view of the cherry blossoms from the river.
